A difficult demolition project on a sloping block with a high degree of difficulty, certainly was a challenge. Due to the slope of the land and the requirement to remove the asbestos prior to demolition, we hired an EWP.
An EWP is an elevated work platform, this enables the crew to be able to work at height with safety. The asbestos removal is a manual physical exercise and a lot of care and attention, and learned skill is required to undertake this work. All removalists must hold an Asbestos Removal license. There are differing licensing for both friable and non-friable works. This house had only non-friable, otherwise known as “bonded asbestos”. Bonded asbestos relates to the composition of the product and is a lot safer to work with than the ‘friable’ more softer asbestos.
To ensure the safety of our team, we always conduct testing prior to the commencement of demolition works.
This way the client is fully aware of what we are dealing with. We are transparent in our communications with our clients and always offer solutions to the problems.
As the house was stripped firstly and asbestos contaminated materials were removed prior demolition, this weakened the structure, as all parts of the building including the ACM sheeting bind the dwelling together, making for a stronger structure. The removal of such materials weakens the structure as there are no ceilings or walls keeping it held together.
There is a lot involved in the process of demolition, the trucks having to back down into the properties, being loaded by excavators and then having to drive out loaded. A loaded truck can be anywhere up to 49 ton, so this requires an excellent truck driver and excavator operator to be efficient.
Tony does the finishing on the properties, to ensure no silt run-off, in the case of heavy rain.
Client is happy!
